ABOUT
The Jane Tyler School of Dance provides outstanding training for those all of ages and abilities. It is a place to enjoy dance, whether that be recreationally or for those who wish to pursue a career in it. The Jane Tyler School of Dance started in 1984 and has been based in Kettering for 20 years being led by Jane herself who is going into her 42nd year of teaching.
The School of Dance offers classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary and Musical Theatre for children as young as 3 years old to our adults who still love dancing into their later life. We offer teaching to those aspiring to become professional as well as to those who wish to become teachers themselves.
All our classes are led by full qualified and experienced professional teachers with the National Association of Teachers of Dancing. Our teachers are fully DBS checked and covered by Public Liability Insurance. Principle Jane Tyler has completed her Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment Training and continues this training yearly.
The Jane Tyler School of Dancing is about learning, improving and having fun. We encourage our students to study for their National Association of Teachers of Dancing (NATD) graded, vocational and medal examinations. We are very proud to say that our students have 100% pass rates in all disciplines. The NATD are an OFFQUAL regulated organisation.
Children are accepted from the age of 3 for our pre-school classes. They will then continue their dancing journey by being invited to study the NATD Limited Ballet, Modern Stage, National Tap, Contemporary and Musical Theatre syllabus when their teachers feel that they are capable.
Dancing from an early age is one of the most beneficial things. It helps to encourage balance, co-ordination, spatial awareness and social skills in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Pre-school dance will develop the basic technique and explore the creative world of moving to music.

Jo Loake
Jo has always loved dancing ever since she was 3 years old and her mum sent her to ballet classes at school. At an older age, Jo started going to dance classes after school on weekdays with Miss Jane and through Jane’s teaching expertise she really developed an understanding and love for dancing.
Jo says “After the school day, dancing was my favourite place to be and I had so much fun taking part in all my classes and shows that we performed as a dance school. When I decided I wanted to pursue dance as a career, the teachers were so supportive and went above and beyond to help me reach my goals. They encouraged me to join as many classes as possible to improve my technique and ability, giving me brilliant teaching in ballet, tap and modern. Even going as far as driving me to my exams so I could pass the necessary qualifications to apply for dance schools!”
At 18 years old Jo was offered a place at The Urdang Academy in London to study professional dance and musical theatre for three years where she had an incredible time and was able to hone her technique and performance as a dancer. After graduating she was lucky enough to fly straight out to Florida to start rehearsals for Jean Ann Ryan Productions where she would then perform on a Regent Seven Seas Cruise ship for the next 8 months travelling the world whilst dancing and performing in the Productions shows onboard.
On her return, Jo spent a few months dancing as a freelance performer for companies Showgirl Entertainments and R&R Productions at different corporate events across the country. Jo is now thrilled to be starting her next contract as a dancer at The Benidorm Palace in Spain and looks forward to the rest of her career as a dancer and performer.
Kurt Nagy
Kurt joined the Jane Tyler School of Dancing at the age of 19, having no formal training in ballet or modern stage. He instantly showed an ability in both disciplines and was encouraged to take his grade 5 exams with the NATD. He did exceptionally well and passed both exams with high distinctions. Kurt was then invited to join the advanced groups to push his ability on even more. At 21, Kurt went to Roehampton to pursue a 3 year dance degree. He graduated from Roehampton with a first class honours, proof of his natural ability and hard work.
Currently, Kurt is signed with two commercial dance and modelling agencies. He is also training with a commercial dance company called Infinity 8. He has performed with Adventure, Rebecca Ferguson and Sinitta. He was also in Matthew Bourne’s production of Lord of the Flies at the Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
Good luck for the future Kurt!
Sarah Fletcher
Based in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, Sarah grew up in a small village. She experienced dance from a young age at Jane Tyler-Jarrett School of Dancing attending classes in Ballet, Tap and Modern, completing her Advanced 1 Ballet exam before leaving for London in 2010. She also attended workshops with Gloucestershire Dance and progressed on to further training at the Centre for Advanced Training located at Swindon Dance.
In 2010 she moved to London to continue her training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, graduating with a BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance in 2013. During her time at Trinity Laban Sarah worked with artists including Kerry Nicholls and Gary Lambert. Later in 2013 she joined Transitions Dance Company to complete an MA Dance Performance, touring across the UK and Europe. Graduating in 2014 with Distinction. Whilst studying, Sarah also worked as a teaching assistant for the Centre for Advanced Training at Trinity Laban.
After returning home Sarah is interested in delivering contemporary dance to rural and less accessible communities as well as working with the older population using dance for health, with a specific interest in Parkinson's and Dementia.
Sarah is also a dancer and Education Outreach Leader for FlickerrDance Company, based in Taunton, South West. With connections in Gloucestershire and the South West, Sarah is hoping to expand her aim of delivering dance across rural communities whilst working alongside FlickerrDance Company to deliver educational workshops and performances.
Tom Davis
Tom Davis, now performing professionally as 'Jev Davis', began training with Jane Tyler-Jarrett at the age of seven, which led to him subsequently training with The Royal Ballet, the Urdang Academy in London and the Swindon Centre of Advanced Dance Training.
After three years of professional training at The Urdang Academy and graduating from their new Musical Theatre Diploma specialising in Acting and Singing, Tom went straight into work on board The Crystal Cruise Ship, Symphony. Here he enjoys performing the role of Marius in Les Miserables as well as Singer/Dancer positions in Cats, A Chorus Line, Chicago, Evita and many other popular shows. He is thoroughly enjoying his time aboard and eventually hopes to work on the West End alongside other Jane Tyler-Jarrett Alumni.
Other Pupils
Below is a list of pupils who trained with Jane under her Jane Jarrett School of Dancing or her Jane Tyler School of Dancing since they were young.
Through Jane’s training, they gained their Associate Teaching qualifications, without having to go to full time dance school or University. Some of the results are with the old NATD marking systems which is why it reads Honours. Since the change to our marking system, 80% and above is the new Distinction.
All the students had to gain their Intermediate qualification before they could go on to study for their Associate Teaching examination.
